12/14/20 - 12/19/20
Hello AMAI Family!
In this blog series we will be posting reminders of what the students worked on the previous week. This could be helpful to make sure you know what your child or you should be working on while at home. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form then talk to your instructor about adding A Virtual Membership onto your current membership to unlock videos that breakdown every section of your form and every technique!
Last Week 12/14/20 - 12/19/20
Lil Dragon's: Our Lil' Dragons worked on their "High Block" and their "Hook Punch" as well as their Leopard Form. To practice the High block have the student put their arm above their head and then have mom/dad, or brother/sister, etc. swing a pillow down towards the top of their head and see if they can keep the pillow off their head with the block. The Hook punch should have a lot of waist turn but they shouldn't spin in a circle, have them make a mean face and focus on you or something in front of them so they keep their eyes and head still as they throw their hook punch. If they get the movement down have them combine the two together blocking the pillow and then throwing a mean hook punch! Finally, they should practice their form. I want everyone to try to do it at least 5 times before their next class. You can access the form by clicking the drop down menu labeled Choose Category and then click the FORM - Lil' Dragons tab, then hit "Read More" to follow along with the video.
BASIC Program: BASIC Program students reviewed a bunch of techniques and worked on section 1 and section 2 of their BASIC Fighting Form. For your "Front Roundhouse Kick" work on having two chambers and having pointed toes. For your "Hook Punch" make sure to twist your waist and have your elbow, wrist, and fist in line. For your "Uppercut" remember to reach out with it and throw the punch from a strong guard don't open up to throw it. The final technique we went over last week was our "Front Side Thrust Kick", for that make sure we have two chambers and we kick with our heel. For your Jab and Cross punch work on speed and waist turn. For your "Step up Knee" make sure to step up with the right leg and throw that left knee with a lot of power. For your "Half Step Middle Punch" remember to stick that punch and have that half step. The final technique we went over last week was our snap kick, for that make sure we have two chambers and we point the toe on the kick. Finally, make sure to practice section 1 and 2 of your form. I want everyone to try to do it at least 5 times before their next class. You can access section 1 and 2 of the form by clicking the drop down menu labeled Choose Category and then click the FORM - Basic Program tab, then hit "Read More" to follow along with the video.
