Hello AMAI Family!
In this blog series we will be posting reminders of what the students worked on the previous week. This could be helpful to make sure you know what your child or you should be working on while at home. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form then talk to your instructor about adding A Virtual Membership onto your current membership to unlock videos that breakdown every section of your form and every technique!

Lil' Dragons: Our Lil' Dragons worked on their "Back Kick" and "Forward Roll" last week. To practice the back kick, make sure to look over your shoulder so you can spot the target before kicking. For the forward roll, take a knee and reach for your back ankle, tuck your head, and push off your feet to roll. Make a challenge by adding these techniques together and hold a pillow at home to practice the kick! Finally, they should practice their form. I want everyone to try to do it at least 5 times before their next class. You can access the form by clicking the drop down menu labeled Choose Category and then click the FORM - Lil' Dragons tab, then hit "Read More" to follow along with the video.

BASIC Program: BASIC Program students reviewed a few techniques and all 3 sections of their BASIC Fighting Form. Try putting all 3 sections of the form together this week! Basic students also had stripe testing this week and for an extra challenge, make sure you can tie your belt and try doing 25 push-ups in a row. You can access the form by clicking the drop down menu labeled Choose Category and then click the FORM - Basic Program tab, then hit "Read More" to follow along with the video.

Kids BBC Program: Last week, the Kids BBC students reviewed sections 3&4 of their Chang Quan form for stripe testing. After practicing sections 3&4, try holding a drop stance for 20 seconds on each side, making sure both feet are flat on the floor. For an extra challenge, work on getting 3 jump toe taps in a row! I want everyone to try to practice the second half of the form at least 5 times before their next class. You can access the form by clicking the drop down menu labeled Choose Category and then click the FORM - Kids-Teens-Adult BBC tab, then hit "Read More" to follow along with the video. For an added challenge try to knock out 15 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, and 45 seconds of your Horse Stance!

Adult/Teen BBC Program: Teen and Adult BBC students learned section 4 of their Chang Quan form. Practice your drop stances and wheel arms this week, with a focus on getting low in your stance while keeping both feet flat on the floor. You also should be practicing your inward elbows and knees for our Abduction Defense. Finally, make sure to practice section 4 of your form. I want everyone to try to do it at least 10 times before their next class. If you need help with the form, you can access section 4 of the form by clicking the drop down menu labeled Choose Category and then click the FORM - Kids-Teens-Adult BBC tab, then hit "Read More" to follow along with the video. For an added challenge try to knock out 15 Knuckle push-ups, 15 Flat palm push-ups and 15 finger tip push-ups!

Weapons: Weapons students learned combination 6 of the form this week. Make sure to keep practicing shadow boxing and flipping the swords. Weapons students should practice the whole form. You can access the form by clicking the drop down menu labeled Choose Category and then click the FORM - Weapons Program tab, then hit "Read More" to follow along with the video.
