Hello AMAI Family!


In this blog series, we will post reminders of what the students worked on during the previous week. This gives you or your child ideas for how to practice at home between classes. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form, talk to your instructor about adding a Virtual Membership onto your current membership to unlock videos that break down every section of your form and every technique! As our summer quarter comes to an end we hope that everyone has a fun time testing for their new belts. Kids BBC Basic, Lil Dragons, and Tiny Tigers will still have class alongside testing so if you are not testing feel free to come in and practice some more!


Lil’ Dragons:  Lil’ Dragons students warmed up with their Eagle form. They focused on the techniques Toe Tap and Eagles Go! To help with their Toe Taps parents hold a pillow horizontally at students shoulder height. Students should kick up with their right foot and smack down with their right hand to flatten the pillow! Keep practicing your eagle form and be ready to show off your Toe Tap!


BASIC Program: Kids BASIC students warmed up with an endurance workout similar to their test. They practiced their four basic blocks to prepare for their test. Students also took turns performing their fighting form!

Teen and Adult Basic students began class with an upgraded endurance workout. Students reviewed each portion of their test focusing on their 4 basic blocks and basic kicks. They also took turns performing their form to prepare for their test.

Kids BBC Program: Kids BBC students started class with an endurance workout. Students practiced their entire shaolin form without breaks between sections. They also practiced their self defenses for each section. At the end students had the oppertunity to practice building combos while sparring with their instructors!


Adult/Teen BBC Program: This week, the Adult and Teen BBC students started off class with an endurance workout. They practiced their whole form start to finish keeping a consistent pace and powerful strikes. They also worked on sparring drills and even practiced sparring with instructors.


Foundation Weapons: Students in the Foundation section of weapons started off with shoulder strengthening drills. The focus was on building confident shadowboxing combinations and showing strong stances. Students should continue to practice their their form from start to finish without breaking between sections.


Advanced Weapons: Advanced weapon students warmed up with technique review on some of their basic strikes. Advanced weapon students built shadowboxing combinations and performed to prepare for their tests. Students also worked on weapon one step with instructors.
