In this blog series, we will post minders of what the students worked on during the previous week. This gives you or your child ideas for how to practice at home between classes. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form, talk to your instructor about adding a Virtual Membership to your current membership to unlock videos that break down every section of your form and every technique! Be sure to check out our youtube channel for videos from this quarter’s forms! Next week is stripe testing for students in the Lil Dragons, Kids Basic, and Kids BBC programs. Stripe testing is a progress check that does not impact class time or length. 

Lil’ Dragons: Lil’ Dragons students warmed up with some form review. They focused on the technique, Cobra Kick, and Burrow! To help with their Burrow students should practice kneeling down and rolling onto their backs without using their hands. Parents can help students practice by attempting to pick them up from behind. Students should roll onto their backs and kick their feet toward their attacker! Keep practicing your Snake form and be ready to show off your Burrow!

BASIC Program: Kids BASIC students warmed up with a basic endurance workout. They practiced all of their basic stances focusing on staying stable and not falling over. Students reviewed sections two and three of their Chang Quan form to prepare for stripe testing. Students should continue practicing sections two and three of their form to prepare for stripe testing!

Teen and Adult Basic: This week students began class with a basic endurance workout and stance training. Students practiced sections two and three of their Chang Quan form. Students also began working with the BBC class for multiple attacker One Step drills!

Kids BBC Program: Kids BBC students started class with an endurance workout. Students reviewed their basic sparring combinations. Students practiced sections three and four of their mantis form! Make sure to practice sections three and four to prepare for stripe testing!

Adult/Teen BBC Program: This week, the Adult and Teen BBC students started off class with a review of their basic stances as well as an endurance workout. They focused on combining sections three and four of their Mantis form. They also worked on one-step combinations with multiple attackers. 

Foundation Weapons: Students in the Foundation section of weapons started off by practicing their Inward Parries. The focus was on performing sections three and four of their Broadsword form. Students should continue building shadowboxing combinations.

Advanced Weapons: This week, the Advanced weapon students started class by practicing sections three and four of their forms. They reviewed sections one and two of their form. Students should practice building unique shadowboxing combinations using the skills discussed in class.
