The News Stand - March 2023

This month’s article focuses on a truly unique form of Kung Fu media that is easily accessible to all. The comic “Shadow Ghost” is a series unlike any other, because of its creator. Sifu Kurtis Fujita is the creator, writer, and artist behind the comic which gives the story a much more realistic portrayal of martial arts training and tradition. Sifu Fujita is a master of Hung Gar Kuen, and he is a huge comic book fan. After noticing a decline in interest in traditional martial arts Sifu Fujita decided to use his knowledge of the comic book industry to create a story that would inspire people to pursue traditional martial arts. Sifu Fujita takes great care to illustrate and choreograph each encounter with as much accuracy and realism as he can. He even made sure to show the hard and lengthy process students must go through to learn traditional martial arts. Sifu Fujita has put a tremendous amount of work into creating a story that will show people how incredible traditional martial arts can be. His dedication and appreciation for martial training and tradition earned his comic the first-ever endorsement from the International Traditional Kung Fu Association for its accuracy. This is a comic that can inspire students to begin, or continue their martial arts training no matter what stage they are at. This comic shows how hard work and determination can lead to the most incredible skills and abilities.
