Hello AMAI Family!

In this blog series, we will post reminders of what the students worked on during the previous week. This gives you or your child ideas for how to practice at home between classes. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form, talk to your instructor about adding a Virtual Membership onto your current membership to unlock videos that break down every section of your form and every technique! As we continue our summer quarter don't forget to practice your forms and endurance. Last week was stripe testing, congratulations to all students that tested and earned a new stripe!

Lil' Dragons:  Lil' Dragons students warmed up with animal walks/jumps. They focused on the techniques Outside Block and Toe Tap! To help with their Outside Block parents can swing a pillow side to side towards students ears. Students should hold up their arm to stop a bad guys swing! Keep practicing your eagle form and be ready to show off your Outside Block!

BASIC Program: Kids BASIC students warmed up with an endurance workout similar to their belt test. They practiced all 3 sections of their fighting form, they practiced their Middle Punch practicing their aim. At the end of class students performed their form to earn their black stripe!

Teen and Adult Basic students began class with a test style endurance workout. Students practiced sections 1 and 2 of their fighting form. They also focused on using their basic techniques to build shadowboxing combinations.

Kids BBC Program: Kids BBC students started class with an endurance workout. Students reviewed sections 3 and 4 of their shaolin form to prepare for their stripe test. They also practiced the self defenses from sections 3 and 4. At the end students performed their form and earned their black stripes!

Adult/Teen BBC Program: This week, the Adult and Teen BBC students started off class with a classic endurance workout. They reviewed sections 1 and 2 of their form. They also took time to practice their sparring drills to prepare for slow sparing with instructors.

Foundation Weapons: Students in the Foundation section of weapons started off with one minute of forward and reverse flowers. The focus was on performing their entire form as one cohesive performance. Students should practice building shadowboxing combinations first focusing on only stances and then adding their weapons.

Advanced Weapons: Advanced weapon students warmed up with Forward, and Reverse Flowers and their Cloud Parries. Advanced weapon students focused on performing their entire form with strong combinations. Students also worked on one step with other weapons.
