Hello AMAI Family!
In this blog series we will be posting reminders of what the students worked on the previous week. This could be helpful to make sure you know what you or your child should be working on while at home. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form then talk to your instructor about adding A Virtual Membership onto your current membership to unlock videos that breakdown every section of your form and every technique!

Lil' Dragons:
The Lil' Dragons worked on their Dragon form this week and the techniques we worked on this past week were their "Feeler Strikes" and their "Dragon Punch." To practice their feeler strikes, students can make two fists and then extend their first two fingers, students should point their fingers forward and strike directly in front of them! For the dragon punch, students should curl their  fingers  and pick their elbows up to shoulder level.  Students should punch with both hands straight forward. Keep up the good work and don't forget to practice the form!

BASIC Program: BASIC Program students worked on section 3 of the Fighting Form! Focus on stepping back into your fighting stances after each kick. The techniques that the Basic Students worked on are "4 Basic Blocks" and "Front Side Thrust." To practice the 4 blocks students should start in a horse stance with their hands in guard. Students should should practice each block twice on both hands before switching. Start with a high block, then a low block, next an inside block, and finally an outside block! For the front side thrust students should start in a left side fighting stance with their hands in guard. Students should step up with their rear leg as they pick up their front leg in a chamber in front of their body. Students should turn their chambered leg out so their heel points towards their target as they kick straight out and through their target! For an addedchallenge try to knock out 15 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, and a 45 seconds Horse Stance!

Kids BBC Program: Last week the Kids BBC students worked on section 4 of the Great Power form. Practice section 4 at home at least 10 times before next week! BBC Students can also practice their "Spear Hand" by starting in a fighting stance with their hands in guard. Students should block down with their right hand and step forward with their rear leg as they shoot their right hand straight out in front of them! BBC Students can also practice their "Forward Knee" by starting in a fighting stance with their hands in guard, students should bring their rear leg up and pick their rear leg knee up. From there students should lean back slightly as they push their knee forward into their target, striking for waist/groin level. For an added challenge try to knock out 20 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, 10 frog leaps, 25 Jumping Jacks and 45 seconds of your Horse Stance!

Adult/Teen BBC Program: Teen and Adult BBC students worked on section 3 of the Great Power form. Practice the application drill you focused on in class! Students should also go over their "Slap Fist." To practice your slap fist, students should start in a fighting stance with their hands in guard, students should pick up their rear leg as they bring their right fist to their ear. Students should keep their left hand extended, and pointing downward. Students should bring their hands together so they slap the back of their fist as they stomp with their right foot. Try practicing section 3 at home 10 times before your next class! For an added bonus try doing flat palm, knuckle, and fingertip pushups for 20 seconds each. As well as 20 seconds of knee slap and elbow to knee crunches, and a 2 minute horse stance.

Weapons: Weapons students learned a few exercises to strengthen the wrist such as forward flowers on both sides, students should also work on their cloud parry, and floor slaps. Students also learned section 4 of the form. Practice sections 4 ten times before your next class!
