Hello AMAI Family!
In this blog series we will be posting reminders of what the students worked on the previous week. This could be helpful to make sure you know what you or your child should be working on while at home. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form then talk to your instructor about adding A Virtual Membership onto your current membership to unlock videos that breakdown every section of your form and every technique!

Lil' Dragons:
The Lil' Dragons worked on the Snake form this week and the techniques we worked on this past week were their "Snake Search/Snake Blocks" and their "Crane Stance." To practice their snake search start in a fighting stance and swing two pillows at either side of your child and have them use their snake blocks to protect themselves. For the crane stance, have them stand on a small pillow and challenge them to hold their stance without stepping off. Keep up the good work and don't forget to practice the form!

BASIC Program: BASIC Program students worked on section 3 of the Five Stances form! Focus on stepping into your cat stance and throwing a flash palm at the same time. The techniques that the Basic Students worked on are "Cat Stance Flash Palm" and "Line Kicks." To practice the cat stance flash palm, start into a bow stance and step forward with your back leg. Keep your weight on your front leg as you step into that cat stance, make sure you hold your cranes beak high and your flash palm is straight out in front of you. For the line kicks. Be sure to practice in an area with plenty of space. Try and throw each kick(swing kick, toe tap, inside and outside crescent) three times walking in a straight line, turning around and throwing three more. For an added challenge try to knock out 15 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, and 45 seconds of your Horse Stance!

Kids BBC Program: Last week, the Kids BBC students practiced sections 3+4 of the Ferocious Tiger form. Practice sections 3+4 at home at least 10 times before next week! BBC Students can also practice their "Rake & Downward Backfist" by starting in a standing position with two tiger claws striking in front of them, step forward as you rake with the tiger claws pulling them in and then up by your ears. Step into a bow stance as you bring your fists down directly in front of you for a double backfist. BBC Students can also practice their "Inward Thrust Kick" by starting in a crane stance then flexing the foot and pushing your heel out, and pushing out and down like you were aiming for a knee. For an added challenge try to knock out 20 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, 10 frog leaps, 25 Jumping Jacks and 45 seconds of your Horse Stance!

Adult/Teen BBC Program: Teen and Adult BBC students reviewed section 4 of the Ferocious Tiger form. Practice the Inward Elbows by starting in a left side cat stance with your hands up in guard, stepping forward with your back leg and elbowing with your right arm. Then step back with the left leg and spin around, as you spin throw another elbow with the right arm ending in a dragon riding stance. make sure the hand that isn't throwing an elbow is slapping your arm to show the power with your elbows! For an added bonus try putting sections 1, 2, and 3 together Try practicing section 4 at home 10 times before your next class!

Weapons: Weapons students started learning combo 6 of Hook Swords last week and should practice combo 1 through 5 of the form. You can also practice shadowboxing over the next week!
