Hello AMAI Family!
In this blog series we will be posting reminders of what the students worked on the previous week. This could be helpful to make sure you know what you or your child should be working on while at home. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form then talk to your instructor about adding A Virtual Membership onto your current membership to unlock videos that breakdown every section of your form and every technique!

Lil' Dragons:
The Lil' Dragons worked on the Snake form this week and the techniques we worked on this past week were their "Fighting Stance" and their "Belly Flop." To practice their fighting stance, Step towards them and have them step back into a fighting stance and bring their hands up as danger approaches. For the belly flop technique, grab their wrists and have them make a big circle with their hands before bringing both hands down to break their attackers grip. Keep up the good work and don't forget to practice the form!

BASIC Program: BASIC Program students worked on section 1 of the Five Stances form! Focus on keeping a strong crane stance even after you punch. The techniques that the Basic Students worked on are "The Four Basic Blocks." and "Snap Kick, Bow Stance Punch." To practice the four basic blocks, hold a horse stance as a parent swings a pillow at you from all 4 directions to practice all of the blocks. For the snap kick, bow stance punch. Be sure to practice in an area with plenty of space, keep your hands up or in chamber as  you kick and keep your front leg bent and your back leg straight in your bow stance. For an added challenge try to knock out 15 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, and 45 seconds of your Horse Stance!

Kids BBC Program: Last week, the Kids BBC students practiced sections 3 of the Ferocious Tiger form. Practice sections 3 at home at least 10 times before next week! BBC Students can also practice their "Downward Backfist" by starting with their hands in guard, bring both hands up to your ears like you are throwing an inside block, then bring both fists in front of you and down at the same time. BBC Students can also practice their "Rake" by starting in a bow stance and reaching forward with both hands, then pulling their front leg back into a cat stance and raking both hands down by their belt in tiger claws. For an added challenge try to knock out 20 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, 10 frog leaps, 25 Jumping Jacks and 45 seconds of your Horse Stance!

Adult/Teen BBC Program: Teen and Adult BBC students reviewed section 3 of the Ferocious Tiger form. Practice the rake by asking your parents to grab both of your shoulders then bring both of your hands up between your parents and elbow down to break their grip. Then reach forward in a bow stance and rake across their body with your tiger claws! For an added bonus try putting sections 1, 2, and 3 together Try practicing section 3 at home 10 times before your next class!

Weapons: Weapons students started learning combo 4 of Hook Swords last week and should practice combo 1+2+3 of the form. You can also practice shadowboxing over the next week!
