Jade Xu (Winner of the Wushu World Championships 3 times in a row)

This month, we spotlight an article titled "Beyond Hua Mulan - The Role of Chinese Women in Warfare and Martial Arts" written by Luis Priego-Casanova and Emilio Alpanseque.

This article gives a historic account on women (such as the military heroine Fu Hao) that fought in ancient wars across China, and how they gained legendary status. It also talks about different martial arts styles that were created by women, one example being "White Crane Boxing" or "Yongchun". Finally, the article describes the important and more prominent role that women play in the world of martial arts today.
