Hello AMAI Family!

In this blog series, we will post reminders of what the students worked on during the previous week. This gives you or your child ideas for how to practice at home between classes. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form, talk to your instructor about adding a Virtual Membership onto your current membership to unlock videos that break down every section of your form and every technique!

Lil' Dragons:  Lil' Dragons students warmed up with a partner workout. They focused on the techniques Front Thrust Kick High Block and their Crane Stance. To help with their Front Thrust Kick High Block parents can hold up a pillow as a target for students to kick towards, after kicking students should raise both hands to block the top of their head! Keep practicing your crane form and be ready to show off your high blocks!

BASIC Program: Kids BASIC students warmed up with a series of relay races. They reviewed their Thread Palm and their Snake Creeps Down. Basic students practiced section 2 of their form. Keep working on sinking low into your Drop Stances!

Teen and Adult Basic students began class with a few laps running and sprinting around the floor, followed by stretching. Students reviewed their Five Stances form. They focused on timing their Line Kicks (Swing Kick, Toe Tap, Inside Crescent, and Outside Crescent).Make sure to practice your line kicks to improve your balance and flexibility.

Kids BBC Program: Kids BBC students started class with a challenging endurance workout. Students reviewed sections 3+4 of their form as well as the self defenses for the sections. Students broke down their abduction defense and worked on striking first.

Adult/Teen BBC Program: This week, the Adult and Teen BBC students started by running laps around the floor. They focused on a variety of stretches to help them increase mobility in their form. They reviewed sections 3+4 of the Soaring Eagle form. They also worked on one step combinations.

Foundation Weapons: Students in the Foundation section of weapons practiced their entire form start to finish. The focus was on applying their Wrap, Reverse Wrap, Conceal combination against an attacker. Students should practice their entire form start to finish to prepare for performances.

Advanced Weapons: Advanced weapon students warmed up with their entire form. Advanced weapon students focused on performance details of their form to prepare for their test. Students also worked on their blocks and counters in one step. Students should practice their form keeping in mind the details discussed during class.
