Hello AMAI Family!
In this blog series we will be posting reminders of what the students worked on the previous week. This could be helpful to make sure you know what you or your child should be working on while at home. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form then talk to your instructor about adding A Virtual Membership onto your current membership to unlock videos that breakdown every section of your form and every technique!

Lil' Dragons:
The Lil' Dragons worked on their Dragon form this week and the techniques we worked on this past week were their "Wrap Around The Pole" and their "Dragon Punch." To practice their wrap around the pole students should take one step forward with their left leg and keep their feet planted where they are as they turn their upper bodies and drop into a smallest stance. For the dragon punches students should bend their fingers so the tips of their fingers are touching their palms. Students should punch at shoulder level straight out in front of them in a flat foot-cat stance! Keep up the good work and don't forget to practice the form!

BASIC Program: BASIC Program students worked on sections 2 of the Fighting Form! Focus on stepping out before your hook punch to give yourself room to twist your body. The techniques that the Basic Students worked on are "Front Roundhouse" and "Uppercut." To practice the front roundhouse students can start in a left side fighting stance with their hands in guard. Students should step up with their rear leg and pull their front foot back while bending their knee (your knee should point towards your target). Make sure to turn your hips as you kick to add more power to your roundhouse! For the uppercut students should start in a left side fighting stance, students should drop their rear elbow down towards the floor with their forearm at waist level. Students should swing their fist upwards and out in front of them. For an added challenge try to knock out 15 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, and a 45 seconds Horse Stance!

Kids BBC Program: Last week the Kids BBC students learned sections 2 of the Great Power form. Practice section 2 at home at least 10 times before next week! BBC Students can also practice their "Hammer Fists" by starting in a fighting stance with their hands in guard. Students should practice all 4 different hammer fists (Upward, Downward, Inwards, Outwards). Make sure you are swinging your fist and striking with the pinkie side of your fist! BBC Students can also practice their "Front Toe Tap" by starting in a fighting stance with their hands in guard, students should shoot their front hand out as they swing their rear leg straight up in front of them. Students should be able to hit the top of their foot with their hand!  For an added challenge try to knock out 20 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, 10 frog leaps, 25 Jumping Jacks and 45 seconds of your Horse Stance!

Adult/Teen BBC Program: Teen and Adult BBC students reviewed section 1 of the Great Power form. Practice the application drill you focused on in class! Students should also go over their "Uppercut." To practice your uppercut, students should start in a fighting stance with their hands in guard, turning towards your striking hand, students should drop their elbow so their forearm is waist level. Swing up and outwards directly in front of you while turning your shoulders to add power to the punch. Try practicing sections 1 at home 10 times before your next class! For an added bonus try doing flat palm, knuckle, and fingertip pushups for 20 seconds each. As well as 20 seconds of knee slap and elbow to knee crunches, and a 2 minute horse stance.

Weapons: Weapons students learned a few exercises to strengthen the wrist, students should also work on their Coil, and Point. Students also learned section 2 of the form. Practice section 2 ten times before your next class!
