Hello AMAI Family!
In this blog series we will be posting reminders of what the students worked on the previous week. This could be helpful to make sure you know what you or your child should be working on while at home. If you need extra help on any movements or sections of the form then talk to your instructor about adding A Virtual Membership onto your current membership to unlock videos that breakdown every section of your form and every technique!

Lil' Dragons:
The Lil' Dragons worked on the Snake form this week and the techniques we worked on this past week were their "3 Snake Strikes" and their "Snake Hug." To practice their 3 snake strikes, Start in a fighting stance and hold two pillows up one on top of the other and have your child throw their snake strikes in between the pillows to work on their accuracy. For the snake hug technique, hold up a pillow and have them strike across the top and bottom and bring their hands in close. Keep up the good work and don't forget to practice the form!

BASIC Program: BASIC Program students worked on section 1-3  of the Five Stances form! Focus on pushing into a bow stance after any drop stance. The techniques that the Basic Students worked on are "Snake Creeps Down." and "High Block Punch." To practice the snake creeps down, hold a crane stance and have a parent hold a broomstick like a limbo pole, try and get low with your drop stances to play some Kung Fu limbo! For the high block punch. Be sure to keep your knees bent and toes in with your horse stance and keeping your left hand fully extended for your highblock. For an added challenge try to knock out 15 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, and 45 seconds of your Horse Stance!

Kids BBC Program: Last week, the Kids BBC students practiced sections 4 of the Ferocious Tiger form. Practice sections 4 at home at least 10 times before next week! BBC Students can also practice their "Inward Elbow" by starting with their hands in guard, bending their right arm pointing their elbow out and then bringing their elbow across their body and past their target. BBC Students can also practice their "Inward Thrust Kick" by starting in a crane stance then flexing the foot and pushing your heel out, and pushing out and down like you were aiming for a knee. For an added challenge try to knock out 20 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, 10 frog leaps, 25 Jumping Jacks and 45 seconds of your Horse Stance!

Adult/Teen BBC Program: Teen and Adult BBC students reviewed section 3 of the Ferocious Tiger form. Practice the downward backfist by starting in a flat footed cat stance and bringing your fists up to your ears before driving them down into an opponents shoulders. Before striking with your backfists make sure you drop your elbows down in front of you as if you were driving them into an attackers arms to break the attackers grip! For an added bonus try putting sections 1, 2, and 3 together Try practicing section 3 at home 10 times before your next class!

Weapons: Weapons students started learning combo 5 of Hook Swords last week and should practice combo 1 through 4 of the form. You can also practice shadowboxing over the next week!
