In this blog series we will be posting reminders of what the students worked on the previous week. This could be helpful to make sure you know what you or your child should be working on while at home. Lil’ Dragons: 
The Lil’ Dragons worked on their Dragon form this week and the techniques we worked on this past week were their ‘Feeler Strikes’ and their ‘Dragon Punch.’ To practice their feeler strikes, parents can hold two pillows one on top of the other and students should try to strike between the two pillows! For their dragon punch, parents can hold a pillow out in front of their child, students should dragon punch over the pillow and grab onto it. They should pull the pillow out of parents hands and pull it towards them holding o tight! Keep up the good work and don’t forget to practice the form!

 

BASIC Program: BASIC Program students worked on section 3 of the Fighting Form! Focus on keeping your hands up when you kick to keep your balance. The techniques that the Basic Students worked on are ‘4 Basic Blocks’ and ‘Side Thrust Kick.’ To practice their 4 basic blocks students should start in a horse stance with their hands in guard. Students should practice each block on both sides twice as they rotate through all 4. Start with a high block, then low block, next inside block, and finally outside block! For the side thrust kick students should start in a left side fighting stance with their hands in guard. Students should step up with their rear leg and chamber their front leg in  front of their body. Students should then lean back slightly as they thrust their foot forward pushing with their heel through their target! For an added challenge try to knock out 15 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, and a 45 seconds Horse Stance!

 

Kids BBC Program: Last week the Kids BBC students worked on sections 1 – 4 of the Great Power form. Practice sections 1 – 4 at home at least 10 times before next week! BBC Students can also practice their ‘Slap Fist’ by starting in a fighting stance with their hands in guard. Students should step up with their rear leg into a crane stance as they bring their right fist to their ear and reach out with their left hand. Students should then stomp and bring their hands together in front of them and end with their feet together and knees bent! BBC Students can also practice their ‘Uppercut’ by starting in a fighting stance with their hands in guard. Students should drop their rear elbow so their forearm is parallel with their waist. Students should then strike out and up directly in front of their face stopping when their fist is at eye level! For an added challenge try to knock out 20 push-ups, 30 elbow to knee crunches, 10 frog leaps, 25 jumping jacks, and 45 seconds of your horse stance!

 

 

Adult/Teen BBC Program: Teen and Adult BBC students worked on sections 1+2 of the Great Power form. Practice the application drill you focused on in class! Students should also review the rank specific techniques covered throughout the week. Try practicing sections 1- 4 at home 10 times before your next class! For an added bonus try doing flat palm, knuckle, and fingertip pushups for 20 seconds each. As well as 20 seconds of knee slap and elbow to knee crunches, and a 2 minute horse stance. 

 

Weapons: Weapons students learned a few exercises to strengthen the wrist such as wrist curls, students should also work on their 2 Star Blocking plus their High and Low Blocks to make a combo. Students also reviewed the whole form (Work on getting your form to performance quality). Practice the whole form start to finish ten times and shadow boxing with obstacles before your next class!
