In this blog series, we will post reminders of what the students worked on during the previous week. This gives you or your child ideas for how to practice at home between classes. Lil’ Dragons:  Lil’ Dragons students warmed up with a series of animal walks. They focused on the techniques, Stranger Defense and Big Elbow! To help with their Stranger Defense parents can grab onto students’ left shoulder. Students should trap the attacker with their left hand and draw a big circle with their right, putting pressure on the attacker’s wrist!  Keep practicing your Chang Quan form and be ready to show off your Stranger Defense!

BASIC Program: Kids BASIC students warmed up with a test-style endurance workout. They practiced section three of their Five Stances Form. Students also reviewed their line kicks (Front Swing, Toe Tap, Inside Crescent, and Outside Crescent). Make sure to practice your line kicks at least 5 times for each kick!

Teen and Adult Basic: This week students began class with a test prep endurance workout. Students focused on performing their entire form. They also reviewed their shadowboxing, and test-style technique review.

Kids BBC Program: Kids BBC students started class with a challenging endurance workout. Students reviewed their entire leopard form as well as each self-defense from their form. Students should practice their self-defenses to prepare for testing!

Adult/Teen BBC Program: This week, the Adult and Teen BBC students started off class with a standard endurance workout. They performed their form and worked on striking with power. They also practiced style-specific shadowboxing combinations and One Step combinations.

Foundation Weapons: Students in the Foundation section of weapons started off by practicing their entire form. The focus was on developing shadowboxing combinations. Students should practice their forms from start to finish to prepare for their test.

Advanced Weapons: Advanced weapon students warmed up with their entire form. Advanced weapon students took turns practicing their One Step combinations with instructors. Students should continue to build shadowboxing combinations, as well as, practice their form to prepare for their test.
