In this blog series, we will post reminders of what the students worked on during the previous week. This gives you or your child ideas for how to practice at home between classes. Lil’ Dragons: Lil’ Dragons students warmed up with a partner workout. They focused on the techniques Snap Kick and Palm Strike! To help with their Palm Strike parents can hold a pillow at head level. Students should push forward with an open hand to strike the target in front of them! Keep practicing your Chang Quan form and be ready to show off your Palm Strike!
BASIC Program: Kids BASIC students warmed up with technique relays. They reviewed section two of their Five Stances Form. Students also worked on thread palms and snake creeps down. Students should practice their whole form as well as each individual movement they reviewed in class!
Teen and Adult Basic: This week students began class with a test prep endurance workout. Students reviewed their cat stances and palm strikes. They also took some time to perform their entire form.
Kids BBC Program: Kids BBC students started class with a review of their side thrust kicks. Students learned section four of their leopard form. Students should practice section four with a focus on the footwork to prepare for class!
Adult/Teen BBC Program: This week, the Adult and Teen BBC students started off class with a basic endurance workout. They reviewed section three of their form and discussed the different ways to apply the movements. They also worked on building shadowboxing combinations.
Foundation Weapons: Students in the Foundation section of weapons started off with a review of their chops and undercuts. The focus was on reviewing the second half of their form. Students should continue to use the moves from their form to create their own shadowboxing combinations.
Advanced Weapons: Advanced weapon students warmed up with blocking drills and basic strikes. Advanced weapon students focused on reviewing sections three and four of their form. Students also used their blocking drills to build a flow drill with instructors.
