In this blog series, we will post reminders of what the students worked on during the previous week. This gives you or your child ideas for how to practice at home between classes. Lil’ Dragons: Lil’ Dragons students warmed up with animal walks. They focused on the techniques Stranger Defense and Big Elbow! To help with their Stranger Defense parents can grab students’ shoulders with their right hand. Students should use their right hand to trap their attacker’s hand and use their left arm to draw a big circle to put pressure on the attacker’s wrist! Keep practicing your Chang Quan form and be ready to show off your Stranger Defense!
BASIC Program: Kids BASIC students warmed up with technique relays. They reviewed section three of their Five Stances Form. Students also worked on their line kicks. Students should practice their whole form as well as how to tie their belts to prepare for their stripe test!
Teen and Adult Basic: This week students began class with an endurance workout. Students practiced their stances with stance walking drills. They also reviewed the first section of their form.
Kids BBC Program: Kids BBC students started class with an endurance workout. Students practiced sections three and four of their leopard form. Students should practice sections three and four to prepare for stripe testing!
Adult/Teen BBC Program: This week, the Adult and Teen BBC students started off class with a challenging endurance workout. They learned section four of their form and worked on the section’s self-defense applications. They also worked on building leopard style shadowboxing combinations.
Foundation Weapons: Students in the Foundation section of weapons started off with a review of their wraps, reverse wraps, and their level conceals. The focus was on building a shadow boxing combination as a class. Students should continue to practice their entire form without any pauses.
Advanced Weapons: Advanced weapon students warmed up with flow drills with their classmates. Advanced weapon students reviewed sections one and two of their form. Students also began building shadowboxing combinations.
